Welcome to Edith L. Frierson Elementary School.
Our school is named after Ms. Edith L. Frierson, who was an educator on Wadmalaw Island for nearly half a century. The school was formerly named Rockville Elementary School.
Ms. Frierson came to the island as the sole teacher and principal at the rural school from 1926 to 1974, when she retired. Ms. Frierson said she stayed at the school for 48 years because of the pleasure she received from seeing children get involved.

Ms. Mary Nicholson, our First Grade teacher, was selected as our 2008-2009 Teacher of the Year.

Ms. Mary Roper, our Cafeteria Manager, was selected as our 2008 - 2009 Classified Employee of the Year.
